I drew an assortment of things that are all important to me. Many of them are my hobbies: I'm a creative person who likes to read, draw, listen to select music, and play video games. Unfortunately, the only subject I can really draw well are dragons, for they're something I've always loved ever since I was young. I also included a film slate, which represents my major and where I want to be in beyond college, hopefully with a role in post-production and specifically film editing.
Of course, my family have played a huge part in my life. I've been lucky to travel around the world including to Australia/New Zealand, the Baltic countries, and a heritage tour back to China. This is also where my love for Disney came from as we went there fairly often. I also appreciate food and particularly like to eat Thai or just anything with noodles!
Connecting with Chinese culture
One of the biggest ways I tried connecting back to my culture was when my family and I did a heritage tour a while back. It was such a unique experience to visit the country I'm from and I even got to see the orphanage where I grew up at! I also really love to eat Chinese food - of course, it's Americanized, but that in some way still relates back to my culture and acknowledging it. Back when I used to live in Seattle there were a few Chinese New Year events I went to as well, and I've tried learning a little bit of Mandarin, something I wish I had retained fluency with.
